Why do people try to ride out hurricanes when they're right in the path?

Because they think they know what they're doing.

Some people are stubborn and make bad decisions .

Others have no where to go. When you're poor, don't own a vehicle, and have no family you can stay with, what are you going to do?

Some people are just too stupid and think they can take the storm head-on.

In the case of a hurricane like Katrina for example, you would be NUTS if not dead if you wanted to stay put in your home.

Similarly if you lived in a mobile home and had a tornado heading your way, the chances of surviving are minimal. Dumb to not take shelter.

They have this imitation hurricane machine at the mall. I thought about trying it for fun.

Because they want to win the Darwin Awards.

Usually, those people are poor, uneducated, and probably not Caucasian.
