I live in NYC. Can I buy a new car in Delaware for no sales tax?.I am trying to not pay NYC sales taxes.?

    Lots of people try that in Oregon where there is no tax and bring the car to California where there is a tax. As long as the car remains with a Delaware license you are OK but I bet that NY is the same as California in that they will make you pay the taxes if you try to register it in NY.

    if that is your game, of course you can but when you register the car in NY you WILL pay the sales tax to get the license

    you are not accomplishing anything other than possibly getting the car you want at the price you are willing to pay for it

    You'll have to pay NY sales tax ti register it there, and since you live in NY you have to register ir in NY.

    Maybe not at the dealer, but when you register it in NY, you will probably have to pay a tax then.

    You must pay sales tax no matter where you buy or live.

    You can, but NY will collect the tax when you register it. You will not be allowed to register it in DE.
