You're getting confused between "religion" and "god". Irrespective of what you say or believe, the fact is that early man came up with the concept of god to explain things they didn't understand: there are many sun gods, rain gods, water gods and thunder gods. There is no confusion of logic here, just fact. Your confusion starts when you try to use the if/then argument in your question as they are not logical progressions from the original statements.

Religion (the mechanics for following/praying/giving deference to a god/gods) is a different subject.

There is no proof of what caused the great flood but one thing is certain! In every culture worldwide there is a flood story hero!

This tells us that somehow this hero knew a flood was coming 120 years before it happened!

Perhaps he was a scientist that reasoned hey we haven't had any rain in quite a while better get ready!!!

I think what you're saying is that yes, there are false religions that worship false gods, but you're also spotting the fallacy that because one particular religion falsely asserts one particular god, then all religions must therefore be false.

I would agree. Different religions have different histories, different assertions, different gods, different alleged prophets. To put it in real terms, the Ancient Greek gods might not exist, but that doesn't necessarily mean the Norse gods also don't exist. The two are unrelated.

HOWEVER:

Assuming you are of the opinion that at least one deity exists and/or at least one religious system is correct, it's up to you to present evidence for it. The Greek and Norse gods might be unrelated, but then again anyone who doesn't believe in either pantheon is probably right not to.

Here is some logic: there are over 6 billion people on Earth and no god can be verified by a large group of observers (say one thousand) made up of people of different religions as well as atheists and the unaffiliated. Some Hindus would have to say, "Yes, we see the Christian god, Jesus, and the Holy Ghost doing that" in order to verify the Christian Trinity.

Gods are like money - - billions of people believe in the concept yet it only exists in our minds.

We can paper and coins to represent money just like we make statues and painting to represents gods. We can talk about money just like we can talk about gods. However, none of these things will ever make money or gods exist other than as a human invention.

all other gods are myth that for sure. but not jesus and god of the bible. because they were truth. they are not science who has explanations of things.. they were the truth.. read the new testament as greek people thinking paul is zeus and this other apostles is poseidon but they rebuke them because the real god is the god of israel. whom really alive.. real..
