There's no -legal- way because race and/or ancestral origin is not a legal distinction. 'Hispanic' is not a legal category any more than being left-handed or having blue eyes.

The government even makes it illegal to ASK someone if they're Hispanic, except in surveys to see whether minorities are facing discrimination. If you're asked your race or ethnicity in an employment form or a govt. form, you can answer whatever you'd like! You can call yourself white, black, Asian, Hispanic, whatever, there is no wrong answer. The answers are supposed to be collected only for statistical purposes, not to determine whether you're right for the job or whether you can be accepted to a school or whatever.

Why does that matter? If you are illegal, your ethnic group does not matter. If you are legal, then you're a citizen and don't need to worry about it. Each can honor their own traditions as long as they don't interfere with others honoring their own. If y6ou want to declare yourself some other ethnic group because your like their traditions better, go for it. We have a Senator from MA who claims she's Native American, which really upset the real Native Americans, but it isn't an illegal act unless she attempts to gain from it.

BTW: If asked by an officer of the US. Immigration Service as to your citizenship, it is the law that you must answer honestly. Immigration Officers are trained in detecting bogus claims and will send you to jail for lying. That is NOT only for Hispanics. That law applies to ALL people within the U.S. or its territories. The only reason more illegal Hispanics are caught is because of the proximity to the U.S. border of Hispanic countries. If Thailand was along our border, we would catch more illegal Thais than any other ethnic group!

Hispanic merely means that a person of any race, mixture or nationality comes from a Spanish speaking background or culture. It's an invention of the United States Census Bureau. Technically, a person of German, Italian or even Chinese ancestry, whose great grandparents immigrated to Argentina, Mexico or any Spanish speaking country and speaks Spanish, is "Hispanic" in the eyes of the Census Bureau.

Additionally, not all Hispanic Americans are descended from illegal immigrants or immigrants at all for that matter. There have been Spanish speakers in the present day United States since before the United States existed. Many modern Hispanic Americans can trace their ancestry back to the Spanish Colonial and Mexican territorial times. Many of their ancestors were granted citizenship when the ancestors of other "Americans" hadn't even immigrated from Europe.

Not a legal way, but a dependable one, and every witch knows it. First, she'll put a long needle into the spine. If no blood comes out, the person is evil. Then she takes his blood and boils it over an open fire, while peeling the legs of 13 black widows into the mix. If the person is a Hispanic, the blood will turn pink. Everybody knows that!

Are you serious? I suppose if we could you'd want to gather them together in work camps. What you're talking is gross and how Hitler got away with what he did. America was the melting pot, and first we hated black people, the irish, polish, muslims, jews, hispanics, blah blah. Good old fashioned racism. I hate white people. I wish I wasn't one.

If you're Hispanic I apologize for my rant, and know that the answer is no.

Try asking, "Esta usted una illegale?" If they give you a puzzled look, they probably aren't. If they get upset and try to kick your a**, they probably are!
