I want to learn Japanese for university. Is it hard and how long will it take?

I'm in my final year of GCSE and I'm interested in studying at the Japanese Economics University. I feel learning the language would be incredibly beneficial if I study there. Can anyone advise on if it's hard to learn the language and usually how long it takes to get fluent.

    Private university "Sophia" is the best choice.
