Why have I suddenly started receiving emails about questions I answered months ago?
Going back well over a year, Yahoo Answers used to send emails to me when I was awarded a Best Answer. That stopped working a long time ago.
However, in the last couple of days some of these emails have started coming through again. In most cases they seem to relate to questions that I answered many months ago, and which were awarded best answer by the asker a long time in the past.
Why have these emails only started arriving now, and more importantly, are there other emails on my Yahoo account that are stuck in limbo somewhere and will magically appear a very long time after I should have responded to them.
Why does it always take many months for Yahoo to sort out problems?

Not just you getting them Richard, I was very surprised that I got quite a few Y!A 'Your answer has been chosen as the best answer' emails in my inbox yesterday and again this morning.
Others have been receiving them as well.
Also got one saying I had reached level 5, that is was old one and today got a Congratulations you have reached level 6 email.
Some / most best answers were from 9 months ago, one from 4 weeks ago and one from 14 hours ago. Yahoo has started again sending new answers emails too but for older questions.

They have fixed sending and receiving emails from others using the Y!A emails, now they need to fix the reporting.
There is now too a rash of new default avatars showing up too.
Yahoo has never been known for their speed in fixing anything.
It appears yahoo is working on getting the email notifications working again and some of us are getting emails mostly for old best answers and a few newer ones so it may be the same for those having new answers emails. They may get caught up and we will start getting them as they happen.
Very doubtful receiving those emails is connected to Verizon as the sale may not even happen as Verizon is reportedly looking for way out of bid to buy Yahoo.

I am getting the same emails for old Best Answers. The workings of Yahoo clearly defy logic.

This is happening to a lot of members.
Possibly its just a glitch on Yahoo as is usual when things like this happen.
Yahoo is under new owners so they may be trying to sort out this site and get things back to how they used to be.....Hopefully.
We can only guess at what is going on unfortunately.
