Why...WHY do some people in this forum give serious answers to ridiculous questions?
Michael :What will happen on January 20th? Will Trump get sworn in or will Obama declare martial law in order to stay for 3rd term?
Replies:
Obama can't declare martial without approval of the Senate. Beside, he couldn't serve a 3rd term even if he wanted to. Presidents are only allowed to serve 2 terms in office.
Kathy
it is against the amendments to have a president serve more than 2 terms.

I used to think no one could possibly believe some of the things they write here. Then I learned that they really do believe things that are simply impossible. When I answer something seriously its because I'm ashamed that someone in other parts of the world will see the stupidity and think we're all like that. We forget that there are people who read answers to get an idea of what we think, people who never ask or answer and are just looking for how Americans view what's happening over the world. And, as others have pointed out, with so much disinformation out there, some people just don't know or understand and need honest answers

Maybe for the same reason people with a limited perspective on life dismiss a potentially valid question as ridiculous or ask a question to which there can be no useful answer.
Everyone gets the benefit of the doubt, until they open their mouth and remove all doubt.

I don't know. I guess the best answer is...why not. Yes you are right many questions in the politics section of Yahoo Answers are not good questions. Many are worded wrong, like: "How many think..."
I like answering that kind of stupidly worded question with a number. like 3,252.
Many people write opinions which are not questions.
"The Electoral College will vote for Hillary for certain?"
"Trump destroyed Hillary?"
I often answer these "so called questions" "Yes", and More often answer "No".
Many people write questions about the future "Who will win the Election?"
Maybe we need a prediction category here.
Sometimes people write questions that are around the main issue, but do not get to the main issue and I use those to come up with questions that do.
Again my answer is..."why not",
and I'll add, there is no penalty for stupid/ridiculous questions.

Perhaps because we realize that, as silly as the questions are, there are people out there that actually believe their basis. Passing along facts to crazy trolls may not change anything, but maybe, just maybe, one of them may be close to 25 and actually learn a little something.

Because although many on this site post stuff that is equivalent to adolescents snickering as they draw nasty pictures on the bathroom walls, others take politics seriously.

We all know it is a FACT that Obama is dispatching the New Black Panthers to confiscate weapons and place all Trumpettes in FEMA camp where they will be forced to gay marry illegal aliens

We ask questions because we want to find out things, not everyone is comprehensively educated in American politics
