why does my car smell like burning rubber?

    It's likely to be a small amount of oil leaking from the valve covers and burning on the exhaust manifold or pipes that you are smelling. The smell enters the passenger compartment through the fresh air intake below the windshield.

    Well my car usually smells that way after running from the law but in your case its probably because one or more of your fan/drive belts is going bad. Either that our your tires are rubbing on the car somewhere.

    Hummm - might be the clutch.. It will have that smell if it's been overheated.
