How does an atheist's closed-mindedness toward Christianity compare to a Christian's closed-mindedness toward Islam?
Serious question. Serious answers appreciated. Answers that don't create more questions appreciated even more. That is, please take the time to think about the reasonable objections to your answer. For example, "Muhammad is wrong because he disagrees with the Bible." The obvious question: how does that differ from, "Jesus is wrong because he disagrees with science"? I'm hoping for answers that address the obvious questions, or better yet, that don't invite obvious questions. Thanks for your time.
Ok, ok, I totally asked the question badly. I was asking Christians to explain how they can say atheists are closed-minded while saying they themselves aren't closed-minded toward Islam. My bad, but come on, cut me some slack!

Atheists come from a no-belief outsider position which handicaps them as "no faith/no ability to compare" while Muslims and Christians come from a belief insider position which gives them a position of an insider's faith for legitimate comparison.
Atheists are like a 3-year-old with the Hubble telescope.
Believers are like PhD astronomers interpreting the images Hubble sends back.

We must CLOSE the door to false doctrine.
Muhammed according to the bible was evil.....a killer, extortioner, rapist,
and what might help you is to read up on Islam yourself unless you've
already done so.
I read that Muhammed's adoptive parents AND Muhammed HIMSELF all
thought him demon possessed or demon directed. Until he told his
JEWISH first wife who encouraged him to spread this. (Remember that
Muhammed was illiterate) and I read that NONE of the Koran was
written down at all until at LEAST 200+ years afterward.
How is it closed minded to stay with righteousness, peace and holiness
when Islam is none of those things? It certainly is not PEACE. Not.
The very word does not mean peace at all. It means SUBMISSION to.
Do you even know the plans of Islam, and Muslims for they are
definitely SLAVES to Allah?
Two pronged. Remember that they almost DID overthrow USA and
are working on Canada.
They have further pretty much RUINED EU, Germany, Finland,
Norway, Sweden.
They are DESTROYERS. This is all easily found online, so very easily,
LOTS of information and videos.
So how are Christian's close minded? How would they be 'open minded'?
Give away what God gave them so Muslims could more easily
destroy them?
For that is the end game. I use this term 'end game' due to it's frequent
use.
It is a ONE HUNDRED year plan of the Muslim Brotherhood to overtake
USA, and all of North America. They have pretty much succeeded in
Europe, UK, Germany and so on. The job is partly done.
Did you know the PLAN? The PLAN of Islam for Allah? And this
is substantiated right in the Koran?
As one writer group said, this stopped being a religion and became
a political campaign with BIG REWARDS....
because if you REFUSE to become Muslim when they are in control,
guess what happens? 2 possibilities....1. killed often cruelly...their choice
2. ....? You pay a TAX.
When Muhammed went to Medina, did you know that was a Jewish center?
He and his group pretended to befriend until they took it over.
Did you know that LYING is perfectly (or imperfect) acceptable in
Islam...and there are 4 kinds?
The atheist CANNOT see, has the atheist gene for sure. That is not a problem
really because what they cannot do....that's that.
That is NOT the problem, it is claiming that because THEY cannot see
that what they cannot see CANNOT BE SEEN. That would be a kind
of closed mindedness, wouldn't you say so?
If you are excellent at mining rocks in Siberia and I don't know a thing
about any of this, it is fine if I don't know. Right? But to tell you
you don't know what YOU are talking about BECAUSE I don't know,
isn't that arrogant?
A Christian has closed the door to sin. An atheist cannot find the door
to Christianity and claims there is no door, yet millions have walked
through it.
Should be good for some TD's, right? Definitely atheists must
never READ it. That might shed light, change the epigenetics.

Well, in my experience, most atheists I know or have met are not close-minded toward religion, IF, there were any verifiable evidence. Speaking for myself, if either Christianity or Islam could provide some sort of hard, objective, verifiaible, observable, testable evidence that holds up reliably to scrutiny by multiple independent observers who are forced by the weight of the evidence to agree with the claims of these religions, I would believe their claims. But they are never able to do so.
No offense to anyone, but if you are so open-minded that you are ready to buy, wholesale, uncritically, extraordinary claims based on faith and subjective "testimony" and ancient books by unknown authors and veracity, then your mind is so open your brains have fallen out. Is there any other domain of discourse where people would accept extraordinary claims on such flimsy evidence as "faith"?? Actually, I think it takes a closed mind for these beliefs to even stay in the mind of a rational person.
I am convinced that amount of extraordinary antagonism and conflict you see between Christians and Islam is inherent in the nature of those religions. They are engines of intolerance.
For example, the Bible contains numerous instances where God or his prophets demand that non-believers, or people who follow other religions, are to be killed. Read Deuteronomy 13:7-12. Even if it's your own child, sibling, spouse, etc., you are to kill them, and your hand should be the first raised against them!
Christianity and Islam are so much in conflict because they are the two largest religions worldwide, and they are fighting for dominance. They cannot stand competition. There will never be peace between these two religions--it will always be conflict to some degree.

Atheist "closed-mindedness" toward Christianity differs from Christian "closed-mindedness" toward Islam largely because we Atheists have often given at least some consideration to both of these religions, among many others, observing their doctrines and dogmas, analyzing the truth-value of every one we encounter, and have found all of them to be equally full of horseshit. Christians, and other believers, tend to surround themselves with an echo chamber of people of the same faith, and rarely ever question the merits of the **** their deceiving clergy shovel into their minds. Most of them ignore the existence of other religions entirely unless some seemingly pressing need brings one of those alien faiths into the limelight, as happened with Islam as a result of the September 11th attacks.

Closed minded would insinuate that Atheists do not have any information pertaining to Theism when most have studied such. Christianity, Jews and Muslims serve the same god but choose to bend their knees differently professing that there is only one then clamming that others are worshipping a different god. I don't attempt to figure out Theism for it is and always will be just a belief valid only for those who chose to believe.

Not comparable at all. Most atheists aren't close minded, quite the opposite actually. I and many others will change our minds if any evidence is ever found, but there has been none so far. So an atheist I will remain

Frankly I am not closed minded about christianity at all. If I was I wouldn't have spent the last fifty years studying it and listening to all the proselytizing and reading your bible in an attempt to understand. Frankly, all the responses from christians show their closed mindedness quite nicely. I can be convinced that your god is real, can you be convinced it is not real?

They are actually opposites. Christians believe that the scripture is truth. An atheist is close minded to accepting that there is such a thing as absolute truth. Christians are close minded against Islam, because we believe that the Koran is NOT truth, but rather a false religion. Being close minded is not a bad thing, if what you believe is true. For example, someone who is close-minded about allowing children to be used for prostitution (as I hear they are now allowing in California) is not evil, or short sighted, or stupid, because they are concerned for the welfare of the child, and the danger that such a practice puts that child in. Yet there are those who think it's okay. But it is NOT okay. In some things, there has to be someone who is wrong, and someone who is right. In the case of Chrisitianity vs. Islam, only one can be right. It is more logical to say that all religions are wrong, than to say all religions are right. If any religion is right, then only ONE religion can be right. Christians believe that God has revealed Himself to mankind by coming to the planet as a human being, so He could relate to us, and lived a perfect life, sacrificed Himself so that people who believed and trusted Him could receive salvation. Islam makes no such promise- they have to earn salvation, through jihad, or multiple prayers, and there is no guarantee of heaven. Both religions cannot be right.
The difference with atheism is that atheists cannot prove that God doesn't exist. They think that science has somehow 'disproved God', which it hasn't- actually Einstein proved that God DOES exist, although he would not acknowledge the kind of God He is. Christianity is the only religion where God gives salvation freely to anyone who believes- all other religions require man to do something for God to earn salvation. This is a fruitless endeavor, because there is no way anyone could know if they had obtained God's favor, or obtained eternal life. Christianity believes that we can know for certain- therefore, God's word is truth. That's why Christians are closeminded about Islam and all other religions- if Christianity is the truth, as we believe it to be, then all other faiths are false. The scripture says "Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." This tells us that there are a great many people who are mistaken about God. Atheists are close-minded against the truth- Christians are close-minded against lies.

Atheists, agnostics most knowledgeable about religion, survey says
Report says nonbelievers know more, on average, about religion than most faithful. Jews and Mormons also score high on the U.S. Religious Knowledge Survey.
September 28, 2010 By Mitchell Landsberg, Los Angeles Times
If you want to know about God, you might want to talk to an atheist.
Heresy? Perhaps. But a survey that measured Americans' knowledge of religion found that atheists and agnostics knew more, on average, than followers of most major faiths. In fact, the gaps in knowledge among some of the faithful may give new meaning to the term "blind faith."

As your starting premise is total bullsh*t, your conclusions will also be total bullsh*t, just like your religion is.

I'm not closed minded about anything.
They are simply not convincing, I am open to any and all evidence, but none is forthcoming to support the christian superstition.
Look to others than atheists for the closed minds, we have no dogma or ritual to close them.
