Why have I never received the standard deduction amount?
Last year (2015) and this year's taxes both have the same standard deduction for a single person ($6,300), why have I never received this deduction? I do not itemize my taxes.

You did. a deduction means that much of your income isn't taxed, it's not something you GET BACK

A "deduction" is not what a person receives. A "deduction" is the amount that is subtracted from the person's income in the calculation of how much the government keeps (typically 10-25% of the person's income, after subtracting the deduction, exemptions, etc.), and then the person gets whatever withheld income tax is left.

EDIT: You do not understand how the tax forms work. First guess is you did not make $6,300. Second guess would be you are mistaken. Third guess is that you filled out the form wrong (although that is almost impossible in any of the online software programs) and you would really have to goof to miss that step on a paper return..
