I am against torturing our prisoners of war in any form. I am with Senator McCain(R) on this, who was tortured routinely for 5 1/2 years by the North Vietnamese.
American forces used to have a reputation of 'well treatment' of prisoners of war. This reputation has saved many, many American soldiers' lives, by allowing enemy forces to comfortably surrender quickly in battle, knowing that they would be treated relatively well as prisoners. But George W. Bush and his water boarding has wrecked this good reputation. I am sad about it.

Trump became president through a number of campaign practices, many of them unprecedented. One of the practices was that whenever he was asked a question and given access to a microphone, he would give the answer that would get the most attention. He hardly ever used questions or interviews to explain his philosophy, his plans, his goals and objectives. He talked about that mostly with crowds at events, where nobody could ask questions. But interviews, questions from reporters, etc., he always came up with whatever answer he thought would attract the most attention.
Trump realized that his followers really didn't care about facts or plans or propositions or really any of that political gobbledigook. They cared about ATTITUDE. So Donald gave 'em that.
So when every other Republican candidate answered the question, all at once, at a debate, Trump saw his opportunity to say exactly the opposite, in spades. Get those chins a-wagging!
Trump has shown us over and over that he is not responsible for things he says. Even Kellyanne tells us the guy is not responsible for what he says!

Fact. We tortured SS officers and Concentration camp wardens after WW II until they confessed to the Holocaust and gave us the numbers we wanted to hear. If you think torture provides false information then you're a Holocaust denier.

Trump said the CIA experts told him waterboarding works but that since it is illegal he would not order it to be used.
