Jesus and refugees. Isn't it interesting that Christ says those who don't take care of the stranger and foreigner are going to hell?

"I was a stranger but you would not welcome me in your homes, naked but you would not clothe me; I was sick and in prison but you would not take care of me.' Then the King will reply, 'I tell you, whenever you refused to help one of these least important ones, you refused to help me. These then, will be sent off to eternal punishment"(Matthew 25:43-46).

In the Old Testament it says:

"God's curse on anyone who deprives foreigners, orphans, and widows of their rights"(Deuteronomy 27:19)

Yet many on the religious right will have you believe that xenophobia to the stranger, refugee or outsider is mandated by Jesus. And when you point out these verses to them all of a sudden they stop believing in the "plain meaning of scripture" as "bible believing" Christians and come up will all sorts of sophistry to back up their hypocrisy and ideological idolatry.

Update:

And for the posters posting. I'm Christian. I'm just calling out the hypocrisy of right wing Christians supporting the xenophobia that we have seen so far.

Oh, more than only interesting. Decisive and sharp.

What does it imply about how a self-labeling 'Christian' that does *not* welcome strangers will do on the day of judgement? They will lose all if that is their consistent practice, unless they utterly repent and turn from that. You have to love others more than your money, more than your football game....

It's very sharply clear on that. No wiggle room at all. Of course....you can invite them over to watch the game, or for a cookout, etc..... :-)

Quit trying to twist scripture to your meaning and start asking God to show you what His meaning was.

Oh. Is this about Trump again? Because that isn't going to work on me.

What are you doing for the stranger and foreigner anyway? Or is it that you are just politically polarized, and don't mind being a hypocrite.

Strangers n foreigners are not terrorists, scammers, killers or other criminals.

It is always such a special sensation when a non-Christian who has never been within 10-yards of a Bible does a cut-n-paste off an anti-Christian website, then presumes to lecture real Christians.

The Bible also talks of not complaining about the speck in another's eye, and insisting you pluck the log out of your own. So, on behalf of all Christians,

    Go Pluck Yourself.

The terrorists aren't strangers, merely criminals who rape, plunder, and murder.

Thats why many people call Christianity, the religion of hypocrisy.
