Myrtle Beach Vs. Daytona Beach for spring break 2010?

My girlfriend and I(we are 20 and 19) are looking to go someplace for spring break this year and have narrowed it down between these two locations. We're looking for a place with a warm beach to relax on, a good nightlife, and lots of attractions but don't want to have to fight through crowds to get around or spend ridiculous amounts of money to have a good time. If some of you could give me the pros and cons of both locations as well as your personal experiences that would help With our decision.

I live in basically a suburb of Daytona Beach and it is great during spring break. I always hang out there for something to do in summer and spring break. The water is usually very warm and the hotels are very affordable (some literally across the street from the beach and only $30 per night) There are many pros for Daytona if you stay safe, but cons if your not careful.

Daytona Beach Pros: cheap and many many hotels. One side of A1A (coastal road) has cheaper hotels, beach side has generally high rise hotels. You can drive on the large white sandy beach . From the beach, you can walk to many attractions and night clubs. its not too large of a city so no fighting through crowds.

There is a "city walk" near the pier directly on the beach which is five story's tall and has a large movie theater, many restaurants, and surf shops ect. Also has a very nice beach side club. Weekends have fireworks near the pier (Fridays I think) along with many events going on at the boardwalk like ppl juggling fire, a large music arena ect. Spring break also has a massive car show (like badass cars and trucks) and on the beach is a convention center that covers many events (basketball, used to have arena football cheer leading nationals) If you leave the city, there is so much to do it is just great for college students. Beach street on the mainland is also very eventful.

Cons: At night try to avoid to get too deep in the mainland (which is on the other side of the inter coastal waterway) Beach street is fine, but west of that closer to I-95 gets sketchy sometimes. The main roads are fine with dining, malls, ect. but the neighborhoods are crime ridden and there are a lot of drugs street level crime. Just use common sense and don't trust some sketchy locals and you will be guaranteed a great time in the worlds most famous beach, Daytona Beach.

Hope I could help you 2 out and know that if you come down to Daytona, you will not regret it and won't have to "spend ridiculous amounts of money to have a good time"

Also, Daytona is in the vicinity of several major tourist city's. (1 hour from Orlando, 2 hours from Jacksonville, 3 Hours from Miami 1 hour to Cocoa Beach, Florida's surfing capital.

Sounds a hell of a lot better than Myrtle Beach, but I've never been.

Sorry all the good spring break sites come with crowds, often unruly crowds at that.
