Do you believe misspelling your child's name will make your child unique?

I see so many people saying they use quote unquote creative Spelling's because they want their child or children could be unique. Do you really think that's what makes your child unique? Honest answers please.

I completely disagree that misspelling your child's name is "unique" or "creative".

A name itself doesn't make anyone unique. Who they are as a person does.

Misspelling your child's name is kind of cruel to me. The child will have a harder time learning to spell his/her name because it's so different, and most likely a strange spelling. Their friends probably won't know how to spell their name. Sometimes it could be spelled so "uniquely" that a teacher would mispronounce it calling attendance and the child could be embarrassed. Some other kids might even go as far as to make fun of kids with purposefully misspelled names. They would also never be able to find mugs, keychains, ornaments, etc, with their name on it without having to special order it.

Why would anyone choose to do that?

    I just don't understand it.

Everyone is definitionally unique. I think that when people feel that their baby is special, they might want other people to see that, too. But I don't believe that an unusual name will lead to an extraordinary life. I think it's actually rather trashy.

I'd say no. But personally for me it's a preference. I really like the name Kayla but didn't like how it looked when I wrote it down. I looked online for variations and found Kaylah (my daughters name 😁) And yes I sometimes have to correct people when filling forms and such.

Children are unique themselves. Names are there identities

it's ok to opt for unique names but not to the point that it will sound weird. the kids will grow up being ridiculed. after all names are the first gift parents will give their babies which also by the way carries until his death.

No. Your personality makes you unique, everyones a little different so we are all unique despite how our names are spelled. I have a very common name, Sophia. I knew a girl who spelled it as Cofea, the C pronounced like an S. However she is the blandest person I know. So the name doesn't make you unique, YOU do. Misspelling your kids name just makes you look illiterate. And it destroys their chances of being a good lawyer/doctor/any job really. And if it's misspelled, its still pronounced the same so who cares?

No. A name doesn't make a child unique, the child's personality and individuality makes him or her unique. When I see a child with a misspelled name the first thing I think it "I feel sorry for that poor child". I don't even see it as unique. Our precious babies will grow up to be successful adults one day so those cutesy names will only be okay for so long.

NO!!! It shows a lack of understanding of English Grammar and the meaning of the child's name.

Mostly it is recognizing that your child is unique. It is also suggestive that they were born now, not 50 years ago.

Personally, no. Others might feel that a different spelling will make their child seem unique, though.

EVERY person is unique as unique means existing as the only one or as the sole example. Misspelled or alternate spellings of names are not unique.

No, it just makes it more difficult for others to pronounce and spell, and the parents seem unintelligent. For example, instead of choosing the name Roxanne a woman decided to spell it Rocksanne. Ridiculous!
