Finger tip pain?

Hi, the tip of my index finger really hurts when I press down on it. It's been like this for a couple of days now, I have no idea what happened to it. It's not swollen or purple so I don't think it is broken. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you recently work with wood or metal? Especially metal?

Little splinters sometimes go under the skin and cause pain in the fingertip. They're too small to see with the naked eye. You shouldn't use that finger then for a couple of days, or at least put a bandaid over it, to not get the splinter any deeper. It'll grow out as the skin renews, that's about a 7-day cycle.

If the pain persists or the fingertip gets red or swollen, go see a doc.
