Can I cut down my motherboard to fit into my case?

I have and EATX motherboard that I want to put into a mid tower case. It doesn't support that size. Do you think its ok if I took a saw and cut the motherboard so it'll fit in the case???

Make a computer case that will fit the motherboard. Because I wouldn't trust you with much in the way of tools may I suggest using a large cardboard box.

I use a welding torch. I have found doing it on a fifty gallon drum of petrol in a bedroom worked best. The petrol absorbs excess heat, and the bedroom is needed as a safety barrier to protect the guys in the space station.

You CANNOT cut down the board. No one mentioned it but, it would be cheaper to buy an EATX case rather than buy a new board if the EATX board is in good condition. There are many out their that fit that board.

That would be a very bad idea, you will ruin it.

you have to use a swedish ceramic ( non-metallic) motherboard saw to avoid static or arcing , they are very expensive so it's worth trying to borrow or rent one, unfortunately the mounting holes will not line up so you also need a mounting hole installer for the case or a swedish ceramic ( non-metallic) drill to drill the mother board , and it will fit perfectly , you then have to go out and buy an actual working computer

No! You need to buy another one.

There are different types of motherboards for different sizes.

One is EATX which is the largest and normally doesn't fit into mid tower/atx cases.

The other which is usually the size is ATX which fits into ATX /mid tower cases

The other is ITX which is the smallest out of them and fits into ITX cases

You need to buy an ATX motherboard. I recommend the asus Z270-A prime

Go right ahead, just don't expect it to work after that
