What does it mean to "love one another as I have loved you"?
-- what would that look like, in actual examples?
Please give at least one or two specific example that helps by showing another form, for instance. If you do use a specific scripture quote, please also say if this is every type of love-in-action in your view, or if there are additional ways we should do.
Looks like Yahoo and me have made this question show up twice. This question comes from the Gospel of John, 13:34
I liked the answer "strong friendship". Could I point out though that "strong friendship" isn't going to include "do your own homework" when someone asks a very serious question like this one.

Jesus said that greater love has no man, than that he lay down his life for another (John 15:13). So, if a Christian took a bullet for another Christian, saving their life, that would be an example. Jesus set us the example by dying on the cross for us.
Jesus also said that Christians must love their enemies and pray for those persecuting them (Luke 6:27). He gave the perfect example of that when on the cross, asking the Father to forgive those who were responsible for His torture and death, for "they know not what they do". Being able to do that to your enemies would be so hard, but that's another example.
More often than not, though, Christians are called to show love in small, everyday things, like speaking kindly instead of harshly, not being offended at personal insults, doing a small kindness without attracting attention to themselves. That sort of thing.. As Jesus said, "He who is faithful in little will be faithful also in much."

Well I assume you are referring to the bible, to love one another like we were loved we must respect eachother and not let foulness spout from our mouths. Jesus respected everyone, including his enemies. We must also go out and do random acts of kindness, without complaining. Jesus always lent a helping hand, even to those who crossed him.
