Why do some people write such long answers, who reads them?

I read them, if it's on my own question.

Why do some people give long answers? I mean why do people seek answers? Are the answers given even appreciated and taken to the deep understanding the answer is trying to give? Or is the asker merely pushing away such a wise answer because they are not yet ready to receive and are seeking the easy way. Perhaps the asker has a big ego and only asks to show others that they have a big ego. Why give a long answer to such a person? Why waste time and valuable knowledge to someone that is simply not worthy of it? Have you ever told a friend a secret that they swore they would never tell, and ended up telling the whole community about it, so now that friendship is ruined because you foolishly trusted some one with your secret. Should it not be the same when giving answers?

Some people enjoy..attention to detail..others,prefer short and sweet..Depends on the question..

Because they have nothing better to do.

Because they think that a longer answer would get picked for a Best answer.

I only do when I'm pissed or truly want to help someone out.
