Why are some people more concerned about "anti-Muslim bigotry" than about actual terror attacks?

Because one is real the other is made up

Because most people are smart enough not to fear a whole group of people because of a handful of idiots.

For a religion that has roughly 1.6 BILLION followers, but only - AT MOST - an estimated 200,000 (though some think even as few as 31,500) extremists, it's easy for most to understand that, even at the highest estimate, that's only 0.0125%...LESS than 2%...who pose any harm.

Let's put this in easy terms.

Your child is in a school with 1,000 kids. You know that 12 of those kids are sick. (Think of these kids as the world population.) Of those 12 kids, only ONE is in your child's grade. (Think of each grade as a country.) Are you going to keep your child home because s/he *might* get sick? Of course not!

It's like comparing plane versus car crashes. On a bigger plane, there can be as many as 417 passengers. If that plane crashes, of course there will be a lot of deaths at ONE time....however, there is only roughly 1 (sometimes 2) fatal crashes each year. Cars only carry - at most - 8 passengers. However, fatal car accidents happen DAILY. Car crashes take MANY more lives on a yearly basis than plane crashes. Yet people still fear planes due to a possible crash but they're perfectly willing to get in a car.

Bad things happen on a daily basis. To fear something that RARELY happens just because that thing MAY have a higher death toll at once versus something similar that happens all the time (and ACTUALLY has a much higher rate of death on the whole) is stupid and pointless!

  • Probably because of people like you who only care about terrorists attacks when they're committed by Muslims and Islamic people.

When more terrorists attacks are committed in the U.S and Canada by whites who were born and raised in that country.

In fact there are more white terrorists committing crimes every year in our own countries than have happened by Muslim terrorists since the seventies, but because of moron sheep like you most people don't know that.

screw islamophobia - the problem muslims have today is similar to what happened in vietnam in the 60s and 70s. how do you know if a vietnamese (muslim) person is a terrorist? you don't until it is too late. therefore, I choose to err on the side of caution

Anti-Muslim bigotry comes from all sides. Muslims are more likely to be victimized by terror attacks by groups like Daesh than any other groups. They say it's not what their religion represents and people would rather believe the terrorists than the moderates who are victims.

The fact is people can be concerned about multiple things at once. Just because one speaks out against anti-Muslim bigotry doesn't mean that same person endorses terrorism, just like someone voting Republican doesn't automatically connect them to many of the stereotypes that Republicans suffer from (racist, sexist, etc.)
