What should my hockey blog be called?
I'm starting up a hockey blog to get my name out there a little more in the hockey world and I'm wondering what I should be calling it. There's ones like Down Goes Brown, and Leaf Fan Reactions, LFR, from Steve Dangle for his video blogs. My name is Oscar Elieff (ell-ee-eff) if that is needed for any possible names. Any help is greatly appreciated

Steve hasn't written in some time, but his LFR videos and his podcasts are occasionally funny. Sean (DGB) is hilarious (if you haven't done so, buy his book)- his Brian Burke parody twitter account from his early days as Leafs GM was ahead of the curve (proof that if you live in Ottawa you need a sense of humour).
Frankly, the Leafs blogosphere (or the Barilkosphere as someone referred to it as) is pretty active and does great work. Pension Plan Puppets is the gold standard for Leafs blogs (Julian is a fellow LFC fan and their new head is a golf nut like I am- they also push actively to get women's voices and have taken strong stands on social issues which separates them). Leafshub, Leafs Nation are also outstanding bodies of work (even if I don't always like everything they put out it's still good work).
If you're going to start a blog, you should start with a few basic questions. Who is the intended audience? As I noted there's several Leafs blogs and they all do pretty solid work covering the day-to-day goings on. How are you going to separate yourself from the others? The minute Dreger, Mirtle, or Lebrun tweet something out everyone's re-tweeting it. You also have The Athletic (who hired James Mirtle away and has Tyler Dellow covering analytics (he can rub people the wrong way but he's ahead of the curve and asks the right questions)). Is this a way to make money or are you doing it out of love? You can go the route of getting ads on your site but that can be a turnoff. Are you going to use a free platform like Wordpress or Blogger or go with something else (Wordpress has free options but the URL's can be a bit messy). How often are you going to update? Are you going to link to other sites for source material (hint- you should do this) or think it's okay to steal content? Also- use your own photos (Getty Images is VERY inclined to go after people who borrow their photos without paying for them).
Ask yourself this- as a Leaf fan I can read TSN, Sportsnet, The Score, the online pages of the Globe & Mail, National Post, The Star, and there's always CBC (I wouldn't use the S*n to line a birdcage) plus several other blogs that churn out content regularly. Why am I going to read your blog? What is it that you're doing that nobody else is doing?
Title? Make it personal. If you have a favourite player, make that your theme but avoid something that's dated. Maybe you have a favourite year, media figure, or a coach you loved/hated (www.randylikestoasters.com may be available, but maybe using www.stevesimmonslikesketchuponhotdogs.com seems unnecessary, but going with www.goodtyrannaboy.net might work).
Since I run a blog (I have a vanity URL and hosting which costs me around CAD$150 per year), link your social media accounts to the blog (Twitter is a must, and I highly recommend Instagram as well- I don't have Facebook nor do I have Snapchat and the others).
Best of luck.
