How do i get rid of a 2" by 4" box in the left portion of screen that is a connection note about my internet?

I cannot drag it, I cannot do anything to it. It is there regardless of what I have up even just the opening desktop. I cannot see through it so it is preventing me from working without making various adjustments, and that of course causes other problems. Peope depend on the timeliness of some of the work I do, some of it means their life. thank you
