Are the anti-ransomware and anti-exploit components of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 3 Free active or passive?

In other words, will Malwarebyes Anti-Malware Free v3 stop ransomware without me doing anything, or will it only detect it when I run a scan (like the malware component)?

Thanks!

If you get ransomware locking your files, scanning after the fact will do nothing except remove the ransomware.

    Your files will remain locked.

The ability to backup your entire computer is a free built-in option.

Backup to an external hard drive and never worry again

The free version does not actively scan the PC for threats, that's a premium feature.

You would have to scan it yourself.

However windows defender comes with Windows, so if yo have windows you should have that. I'm not sure how effective it is at detecting the threat types you've mentioned, but it does scan the PC actively.
