What comes first? The Silmarillion or The history of the middle earth?
Hi,
I have just purchased, The Silmarillion... and want to have The history of the middle earth as well... but i am not sure which one to read first story wise.
Can you guys help?

Tolkein didn't even release the Silmarillion, one of his greedy relatives did after his death. It has no place, unless you want to read his notes and drafts.

The Silmarillion is not one story, but five different works published in one book. As such, it kind of jumps all over the place. (It's also a *very* difficult book to read. Much of it reads like rambling.)
So I would read The History of Middle Earth first.
