if I ever publish a book how do I get it bookstores?

    Your best bet would be a reverse form of shop-lifting - take them in under your coat, or in a carrier bag and arrange them on the appropriate shelves/display tables when the shop assistants aren't looking.

    I assume you mean if YOU ever SELF-PUBLISH your book.

    If a publishing house does it then THEY hit the pavement.

    That is something a publisher handles.

    Which is why self published books usually fail, unless they exploit a niche market like local history or naive Christians.

    If you manage to get a deal with a traditional publishing company, submitting the book to bookshops is the company's responsibility.

    If you self-publish, your book will be on sale in various online bookshops. Bricks-and-mortar bookshops generally aren't interested in self-published books, unless the book has sold by the truckload or (perhaps) the bookshop is a small local one.
