Helping others is messing my life up.?

I once got told help others for your life to improve but I found it messing me up taking so much out of my days talking t people and giving them advice ever since I became a bit selfish my whole small business improved because I just worried about myself. What do you think?

    I wouldn't help anybody the people i used to help out stole stuff from me and always talked **** about me behind my back so now i only help myself

    i think you have a point, its good to help others but not to the point where it hurts you
