When should I ask her out?

I'm planning on taking a girl out this Saturday. However should I tell her about the plans as early as today or let her know on the exact day. Which would be better?

    Aks her out now. It would be nice if you can give her hints so.she can dress up for the ocasion, but keep the majority of plan a suprise.

    Which is it? Ask her out as per your subject header or tell her the details of your date, as per your question?
