Climate change: Co2 and plants- why hide the rest of the story?
"The full implications are still far from clear, however, and any benefits may be more than offset by other negative changes, such as heat waves and extreme weather, biodiversity loss, sea level rise, and so on," said Keeling.

'The full implications are far from clear'.
This means 'we still need to do more work'. Which is hardly surprising cause we don't yet, as a species, know everything ...

No question about it more CO2 is good for all plants whether they be crops or weeds.
( of course Keeling had to add that, to save being ostracized )
For years now agriculture has been breaking records in production, you may argue that has been because of technological advances, but stop and think what are the technological advances? I will tell you, No.1 is nitrogen fertilizers, which are made from fossil fuels, and then there is agricultural mechanization driven by fossil fuels.
Without fossil fuels we would all starve.

I am all for showing ALL of the facts.
FACT: Crop production is INCREASING. This causes a HUGE problem in making any claims. Technology is the main reason for a LARGE amount of the crop production increase.
In fact, technology is so large of an influence that all other factors cannot even really be measured. IT may be that warming is causing some increase or it may be that it is causing a decrease but technology is playing such a role that it more than makes up for the decrease.
AHHHHH but Elmer... YOU are the one claiming crop decimation. If I were asking for YOUR tax money because I am claiming CO2 helps crops then I would old the burden of proof, but I am not.
YOU are saying AGW will cause crop decimation, and when the whole story is laid out, there is not way to tell the overall effect AT ALL, because the effect of technology is too large.
Right now we are saying that some factors will help plant production and you are saying some factors will hinder plant production and WE BOTH ARE RIGHT.
But what is future affect and will it cause a problem or be helpful. The answer is that we have no idea. But I am not claiming some awesome utopia in the future where crops just grow rampant. Alarmunists are claiming some future dystopia where crop decimation is rampant.
I know how sad and angry it makes you and I hate to be the bearer of such good news. It is highly unlikely that this future dystopia will ever occur and there is certainly no evidence suggesting it will.
I know how much you were looking forward to that dystopia and I am sorry to have to trample on your dream, but there it is.
