Names are words and all words come from language origins and as language spreads and all names were chosen from the language heard, spoken or which influence the person taking it, it would be ridiculous to only assume one country and only people have nationalities not words.....it is likely to be from one of the eastern European languages like Ukrainian or Russian however could be a spelling variant of another eastern European language
