troubles in initialize a hard drive?

I have a western digital 4tb hard drive. worked just fine on my last computer. but I got a new one and its about as useful as a paperweight at this time. its not showing up in file explorer but it does show up in disk manager and showing the correct disk size of 4tb. it says its working correctly in device status. but its also saying it not initialized. when I open disk manager to initialize (whether its MBR or GBT....whatever those mean) it says access denied. my account is set to administrator. how do I solve this problem? any help is appriciated
