In Oregon, do you really have to pay before getting service?
A texting friend, who claims to live in Portland, Oregon, claims that she has to pay the dentist, before getting an exam, before getting a a Taxi ride, or even before getting any other service. But in California, I don't even get charged for service by my optometrist, until after an exam. ,

This depends on a lot of things. The dentist may demand payment before hand. I've been to doctors who do this. It's called a copay. This could depend too on her insurance. But, why would you even doubt what a friend says? Do you think she is a liar? What would she gain by lying about this?
