Any way to download Essentials 12?

So I have bought a new PC and I was hoping to download Essentials 12 earlier, but apparently Microsoft discontinued it and now you can't even download it anymore? Why is this? I don't see the point in Microsoft stopping people from downloading stuff like this. Any one have any ways of downloading it?

    There's really little point - even if you could locate a download.

    It's way, WAY out-of-date, and reached the end of it's USEFUL life.

    + as Dave states, MS no longer offers support.

    Either use the current and up-to-date Windows Defender,

    or find a suitable alternative AV program.

    If it's no longer supported by Microsoft, it just goes away. It can easily become a security risk if they continued to offer it with no support.

    Most everything in it is now built into the OS. What piece do you want/need?
