What sort of registration or proof do you need for service animals?

Between talking to my doctors,I am considering a service animal. However there are a lot of scams out there for service dog registrations. The ADA website isn t very clear on how to officially obtain a service animal or if registration is required.

For housing purposes specifically, I.e renting an apartment, what sort of proof do I need to provide the leasing office?

it aint up to you to "consider"

Its up to the doctor to certify you have a recognised illness that will be improved by having pet

(it aint a "could be improved" but there has to be a high degree of certainty that it "WILL be improved")

without that certificate its up to the leasing office if they accept you or not, and even with it you cannot insist on an apartment if there are other people who will be affected by an animal - eg. they are allergic to fur)

the fact that YOU might like to have a pet cos it makes you feel better has nothing to do with it
