As far as internet access, that depends on where your home is located. In some of the cities around me, there is wi-fi provided by the city on the power poles, and that's included in city services at no extra cost.

But in most places, you get an ISP for yourself, and use your own router to get wi-fi. In rough order from cheapest to most expensive:

    1. Through the phone, via DSL or dial-up

    2. Through a TV cable.

    3. Through a fiber.

    4. Through mobile data from your cell phone, or a similar device.

    5. Via satellite.

Depending on your location, some of those will not be available, or in rare spots, none of those will be available.

As far as which is the "best." that depends on what you value.

That would of course depend on the ISPs in your location

First, wifi is all a LOCAL issue within your home. Buy a wireless router, you have wifi. First you need a good ISP with good speed and solid service! Then connect a wireless router. Poof you have wifi! Wifi is short ranged and is simply a replacement to using an etherent cord to connect to a modem or router! Netgear, DLink, Linksys, Asus all have good units. "Cheap" depends on your budget. Get the fastest internet you can afford, connect a router and enjoy. Once you buy a wireless router you are through paying for wifi! You do get to pay for the internet connection.

That would be my 2nd wife, she was the cheapest (no doubt about that) and she was the best. Number 3 is okay, but some of the old excitement is not there.
