Why are the vast majority of British actors so much better than their American counterparts?

That is not true at all. Your opinion is biased. Circular reasoning is illogical.

You can't sweep 1,000 years of culture under the rug and pretend it isn't there. When it comes to creative literature, screenplays, and TV talk shows, Britain owns the language.

They do dramas, especially period dramas better than any one else. Their sitcoms are utterly lame. Their starts are still able to be "regular" looking people, and not the mandatory Hunks and bimbos of American media.

US films now earn more money abroad than in the home market. That means that the plots have to be "beige" enough to be understood by and appeal to a multitude of foreign audiences. And the close up is gone, because of dubbing.

And if you thing the US has more than it's share of guns and car chases, you should watch modern Bollywood, Tollywood and Pollywood action films.

I haven't been to the movies since 1998, (Saving Pvt. Ryan), and that is money well .....NOT spent.

Keeping Up Appearances was a pretty crappy British TV comedy series.

Americans are still into Cops and Robbers, and Cowboys and Indians. This requires the use of Guns and Cars.
