Sandy is 100% correct. All you other know it alls know nuttin ' about the subject.

A cataract forms on the natural lens of the eye. That whole lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens , so it is impossible for a second cataract.

Left over cells from the original lens sometimes start growing on the backside of the capsule the lens is in causing the vision to get cloudy again , but it isn't a cataract. It is removed with a simple procedure with a YAG laser in the Dr's office , called a capsulotomy.

Some call it a secondary cataract , but it isn't really.

DeAnne , Please take the time to give best answer to Sandy.

It's nice to see this section has plenty of people who don't know what they're talking about too!

I won't repeat Sandy's answer as I can add nothing to it, it's completely correct and easy to understand.

When you have a part of your body removed, like a finger, an ear, a kidney or the lens of your eye, it can't "grow back"!

No, cataracts can NOT grow back after being surgically removed.

A cataract is the result of the lens becoming cloudy.

During cataract surgery the lens is removed and replaced with an artificial lens. That lens cannot become cloudy and you do not get cataracts again after surgery.

The users who are all saying "yes" have no idea what they're talking about.

A very simple "Google Search" would have told them that.

What can happen is the lens "capsule" might become cloudy and require a short laser procedure to correct. But that is not the same as a cataract.
