What is the best way to learn Japanese?

I want to learn Japanese but don't know where to start. What would be a good way to learn Japanese like through a book, app, on the web, or with a person.

This bring a good collection of online resources for learning Japanese, including study materials on hiragana and katakana and kanji, grammar lessons and useful expressions.

The best way: Attend Japanese language classes while living in Japan.

Ok, that's not really doable for most people. At least not at first.

But you do need some formal training for the grammar and pronunciation. After that, practicing by speaking to other native speakers, and memorizing vocabulary will get you most of the way there.
