How much money necessary to go to Guatemala?

I'm going on vacation for my first time to Guatemala. I know 8 quetzales equals one U.S. dollar. I'm only going for a week amd 2 days. I plan on taking close to a grand. Do you think this is enough to get by that period of time?

    $1000 will be enough for 9 days, yes, assuming you're not staying at the best hotels or resorts available.

    That depends on you. I could take a thousand and come home with $900. Some people could take $2000 and come home broke. Then it could depend on if your hotel is already paid or not.
