Why has an answer I gave to a question been reported when it was useful, appropriate, and non-offensive?

Some people disagree with everything they see. If you believe your answers was wrongly reported, appeal it.

Appeal system has been having problems but I don't know why.

I think you are right. But it is simply the perfectly normal objection to have interference from somebody else. Instead of an impersonal machine it becomes like the STASI listening in on conversations.

But that is only true because you specialize in controversy--or what they call controversial.. (Look, they gotta have jobs.)

All answers are against Yahoo guidelines. They are written so CYA (cover your a$$) that they can find a flaw in any answer. This will be gone in five minutes

If this sort of thing really bothers you, I've got bad news for you. You are going to HATE this website.

Someone may have thought it was a Violation of the Yahoo Answers Community Guidelines

My experience is very similar to yours. In my case, I have concluded that it is a combination of malicious mischief & complete indifference on the part of the administrators. I am convinced that there is no such thing as a real review process. I have had thoughtful accurate answers removed, and recently, I was awarded best answer when my response was deliberately sarcastic & snarky.

people are easily offended. I agreed with a question and it was reported, so I appealed it thinking that someone might LOGICALLY look at the answer. I was wrong!

Welcome to the new yahoo, where an answer or question can be reported and

deleted just because the reporter did not like it.

Trolls or someone who disagreed with something you posted to his question and he want revenge by reporting you.

Just move and if the points are that important to you then don’t waste 5 points asking about it. You can appeal it but it would be a waste of your time and cost you another 10 points because there’s no chance that it will be overturned.
