We had a big garage sale when we moved from our former house. My granddaughter decided to run a lemonade stand. She is a cute blond kid and at the time was about 6 years old. She sold $40.00 worth of lemonade at a quarter a glass. I think it was the cute kid, not the product, that promoted sales.

Kool-Aid, lemonade and baked goods and snacks, you might be able to get away with. Do NOT sell any home-prepared foods, cooked or otherwise. Your kitchen must pass a health department inspection in order to sell prepared foods. You might not get caught and shut down, but is it worth the risk of someone suing you for getting sick on what you sell them, for a few lousy extra dollars?

My mom would let us do a lemonade stand with cookies and brownies. I wouldn't do nachos. Hot dogs might sell though.

Bottled water is a good idea, something that's on the go. Most people garage sale hop.

Doesn't hurt to try, But the best gimmick you will have going for you are the smiling faces of those little kids. I've seen people donate to their cause without buying anything. People can be so gullible! go with your plan. It works.

Desserts like homemade chocolate chip cookies, brownies, or rice krispy treats are better.

Depending on where you live, you may need a permit. Furthermore, that permit would be subject to health department inspection if you are serving food you prepare. In addition, you could be liable if people get sick or eat something to which they are allergic.
You might be better off to offer packaged snacks and beverages, like individually wrapped granola bars or cookies and bottled water and juice, chilled in a tub of ice -- although the sale of these items could still be illegal.

I visit garage sales occasionally but do not look forward to eat or drink there.
