I am obviously going to say Denmark are one of the teams that could really surprise, but I don't just say this, I genuinely believe it. We are strong in practically all positions. We have now 3 excellent goalkeepers who have proven their amazing goalkeeping credentials. I am sure you all have seen Kasper Schmeichel and Jonas Lossl performing brilliantly in the EPL for Leicester City and Huddersfield Town respectively. But we also have Frederik Ronnow who plays for my hometown club Brondby. Ronnow has been unbelievable for us this season, making class save after class save. Ronnow is the main reason we are top of the table and on our way to winning the league this season. In central defence we have accomplished defenders like Kjaer, Vestergaard and Christiansen. In midfield Eriksen pulls the strings, but we have other classy midfielders like Delaney, Sisto, Lerager as well as strong holding midfielder Kvist, There is also a chance that young Nordsjaelland midfielder Mathias Jensen will make the team, he has arguably been the best midfielder in our league this season. He has scored and created many goals for Nordsjaelland from midfield, I hope he plays a part for us at the World Cup. As for our attack we have many proven forwards like Nicolai Jorgensen, Yussuf Poulsen and Kasper Dolberg, not to mention other options. As a team we are looking good and I expect this to be our best International tournament since we won the Euros in 1992.

Of the other teams who I think could surprise, I think Colombia, Uruguay, Croatia, Poland, Serbia, Sweden, Switzerland, Egypt, Morocco, Senegal and Mexico all have chances of reaching the quarter finals or maybe beyond if they play their A game. I do not expect much from any of the Asian teams and I think the best of them will reach the last 16 at best. I don't think Tunisia, Nigeria, Costa Rica, Panama, Iceland or Peru will do that well either. This is just my observation of these teams and my thoughts on the issue.

  • Spain.....although if that's true, then maybe it wasn't as much of a surprise as it might of been if I said errr....Russia or Iceland were to win it..........I like to think were underdogs dark horses, I mean when was the last time you predicted your own team to win and they actually did?, excatly it never happens...either that or Russia..hosts yes, but a surprise to win this?, you betcha..p
