My friends and parents tell me this all the time, shoudl i listen to them and get indoctrinated into their wild beliefs or be my own person?

I am a Roman Catholic, but that doesn't mean other people have to be a part of my faith. One of the founding beliefs of our forefathers was freedom of religion. Everyone has the right to belong to the faith they aspire to.

no, most devout catholics i know are absolutely miserable, second only to jews.
i don't mean that to sound offensive, i have plenty of catholic and jewish friends and i love and respect them but seriously they carry way more guilt then they should. Jesus died so that we can go to heaven, not so we can spend the rest of our lives beating ourselves up for being the flawed humans that we are.
