Are police check points illegal?
For a police to stop you while you are driving, there must be a good cause. I understand most traffic violations are not crimes unless there is property damage and or someone is injured.

1. Being stopped is not a search.
2. Drunk driving is a crime, even if there is no injury or property damage.

Nope. The whole point & purpose of police check points is because the cops are looking for someone or something specific.
It might be a fleeing fugitive. Or an escaped prisoner. Or they're just trying to get some drunk drivers off the roads.
Regardless of their reasons for it, it's just tough sh*t on you if you don't like law enforcement doing its job.

you need to consult an attorney in the state where you live. in my state, you sure stop at checkpoints when asked

"Good cause" is not a legal term. The 4th amendment protects you from unreasonable search and seizure, and the Supreme Court has ruled that police checkpoints are not unreasonable.
However, it depends on your state. Some state laws don't allow them. Others do.
