pH question?

If blue litmus paper is put in a test tube with olive oil, distilled water, bile and lipase then what color would the blue litmus paper be? Would it stay blue or would it change to a red color?

    Litmus paper .....

Blue litmus stays blue in a base and turns red in an acid. Red litmus paper turns blue in a base and stays red in an acid. I prefer neutral litmus paper (you only have to buy one kind) which turns blue in a base and red in an acid.

Olive oil is not an aqueous solution. It probably will have no effect on litmus paper. Blue litmus will stay blue in a neutral solution, like distilled water. Bile is usually somewhat basic, and the blue litmus paper will stay blue. Lipase is not a single compound, but there are a number of variations and in a number of locations in the body. Depending upon where it is found and its function, it can be either acidic or basic.
