Why are people so cheap with panhandlers?

Maybe they're like my son who won't work because he "doesn't want anyone telling him what to do" HIS words, not mine. And most homeless people are either lazy or mentally ill. Most accept shelter help to get back on their feet. These people don't panhandle. They do what the shelter tells them to do which is go to class or find the job.

I would think if one was desperate enough s/he would be grateful fqir a dollar. In the pasty, I offered a panhandler some of my food-- whole wheat crackers, bananas, apples, vegetables, and possibly some peanuts. I guess the panhandler wasnt too hungry. He refused everything. I have even given information to local social services organizations.

I do not normally give money. For all I know, s/he is just wanting money for drugs or alcohol.

Because people need the money they earned, and what makes you think you are entitled to what someone worked for?
