What makes people think that democrats are any more giving then Republicans?

I don't.

My Republican friends do large donations and have specific strategies for this.

My Democrat friends give a few dollars because the government is threatening to defund PP or another group or use CREDO with hokey cell phone service.

It's the assumption that people on the left think for the wider community rather than personal gain. Personally I have met both democrats and Republicans who are charitable, but also some really selfish people in both who are only out for themselves

Sending someone to a soup kitchen is healthier than giving money to a panhandler. Some much of the money given to panhandlers is spent on alcohol, pot, or worse, that most reputable authorities consider giving money directly to a panhandler to be a very bad thing, and say that if you really don't want the person to have to go to a soup kitchen, you should at least buy food and give the person food, instead of money. However, giving the money to a soup kitchen is considered better, because they can buy more food with it, and because of the tax advantages.

Ok this is a stupid question and here’s why. Whether one is politically liberal or conservative, is not an indication of their personal character and whether they are a good person or not. You seem to not understand this

Guess what... Same thing happens in Republican cities. Panhandling is illegal in most cities.

I offer them food but they refuse. Far too often do they buy alcohol with my money.
