  • "I have been intermittent fasting for over one year.

I skip breakfast each day and eat two meals, the first around 1pm and the second around 8pm. Then, I fast for 16 hours until I start eating again the next day at 1pm.

Surprisingly, since I've started intermittent fasting I've increased muscle mass (up 10 pounds from 205 to 215), decreased body fat (down 3% from 14% to 11%), increased explosiveness (set a personal best with a clean and jerk of 253 pounds a few months back), and decreased the amount of time I've spent training (down from 7.5 hours per week to 2.5 hours per week).

In other words, I'm stronger, leaner, and more explosive even though I go to the gym less and eat less."

The liver is a major organ for detoxification. It works to break down the food that you are exposed to daily. Excessive quantities of proteins and fats can put damaging stress on the liver cells. Refined sugars and greasy/fatty items (like deep-fried foods) can also aggravate them.

The liver uses sulfur to break down toxins. Cruciferous vegetables (e.g. broccoli, cabbage, Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, kale), raw garlic, and onions are rich sources of sulfur.

If you're trying to build lean muscle mass, consume more fish, raw nuts, and sushi (without the rice) for protein. Fish is loaded with enzymes and less stressful on the liver. Eggs are also good sources of protein if your gallbladder is not sluggish. You will need to consume whole foods high in vitamin B, and potassium. High potassium, low sodium foods include leafy greens, kidney beans, avocados, honeydew melon, and sea kelp. Beets, and salmon are also high in potassium. Also eat more fermented foods to increase the microbiome in your gut, such as pickles, apple cider vinegar, kimchi, and sauerkraut.

In short, just eat more salad with some beets. lol Eat a little bit of protein throughout the day instead of all at once. Reduce your consumption of refined carbohydrates as well.

Bulking is really dumb, it is only very slightly effective in gaining muscle certainly not worth the risk to your health.

Do you know that if you eat too much your fat cells can divide and multiply, once they have, they never die they are with you for life.
