I sometimes see parallel red lines. It's kind of weird and I don't know what it is. Has anyone else heard of this?

So every once in a while, at random times, I'll start seeing several, parallel red lines, they look like a beam from a laser. They are spaced evenly, are perfectly parallel, and run horizontally. I don't know how many rows of them there are. When I was little it happened a lot more frequently, and then it stopped happening for a few years. I had forgotten about it up until maybe a month or two ago, when I saw them again. Now it happens randomly, and usually I only see them for about a second. It's like I can see them but they aren't there, almost like a cross between thought and reality. It's just weird though because it is a structured pattern, and it is consistently the same. Plus it happens when I am not thinking about it, and I can actually see them. Anyways, does this sound like a known thing? Any informative answers are appreciated.

Mine are sort of zig zag shaped but bent around an arc. With colours as well in between the different vertices.

They appear from time to time but are consistent each time.

When they are bad they tend to block other types of vision so it would be difficult to read when this occurs.

For me it can take 5 to ten minutes for it to pass away and go back to normal.

I used to think I was crazy. But I guess you prove that others have the same type of issues.

I imagine that it is a bit like "tinitus" where you hear sounds that aren't there. In this case we are seeing things that aren't there.
