Is giving a one-word answer allowed? Yes it is, as long as the question was a yes/no type of question.

Is reporting your answer allowed? Yes it is, which is why there is a report flag beside EVERY question and answer. If you feel your answer was wrongly reported, then you should appeal it. You can do that here:

    https://io.help.yahoo.com/contact/index?page=topic...

and include - The specific text of the post that was deleted, The violation reason specified in the notification email (if you got one, if you didn’t get one then make that known), The reason why you'd like it reviewed, and The Yahoo ID you're using in Yahoo Answers.

    Yes.

If the answer was for a question requiring only a yes or no answer it is correct. But most want details and if they wanted details and you just wrote Yes then you were wrong.

A mature person would have given a reason for their yes or no answer and would have never run into this problem.

Appeal it is all I can recommend to you.

No it's not. Rather than answer a question with just a yes, provide the supporting reason for it. You were reported for either point-gaming for misuse of the Q&A format (not an answer).

Unfortunately, a lot of users here spam "yes" or "no" to answers to cheat for points. Unless the question specifically asks for a yes or no, you're better off giving a little explanation along with your yes/no.
