    Asking her out IS so you can get to know her.

    Take her out for coffee and donuts and talk to her. Get to know her better.

    Then if after talking with her you feel you want to ask her out ...then do it.

    How else do you get to know someone? Unless you're a stalker, asking her out is about the only real way to get to know her :)
