It appears that most Media today concentrates on misfits , crime , scandal , dysfunction and failure to attract viewers . What do you think of doing exactly the OPPOSITE . Would that attract your viewership ?

Good, positive life is What is Expected. There is no excitement in NORMAL.
People want the unusual, the dirty, the crime. things they do not do, hear about, or see every boring day.
I think back in the 1970s or so, some small News Paper or TV station tried to spoon feed sweetness & smiles to the public, and went out of business or changed its format.

News reports on the exceptions, the lurid, the shocking, and the disastrous. A steady diet of good news doesn't sell soap. Occasional feel good stories are all you will get.
Even as crime rates were falling over the previous 2 decades the percentage of time TV news devoted to crime stories increased.

we are only as strong as our weakest link. sure there needs to be a balance but I am personally more interested in adversity to learn how to overcome it

Some outlets like to have their ."..and finally bits" - some heartwarming tale that makes you want to throw up. If you are advocating wall to wall schmaltz, count me out.
